Realistic Steps To Attain Money & Prosperity

by Chris Arribbat

If you're after money & prosperity, the first thing you need to do is stop dreaming about it and start taking real steps towards it. You don't get rich sitting around, working your day job and kicking back a few beers thinking "If only..." The truth is this: While different people are born into different lifestyles, different opportunities, it is, at the very least, entirely POSSIBLE for anyone to find wealth and security. The reason a lot of us don't is, honestly, fear. When you start getting real about it, you start to realize just how much work that takes. So get real and stop dreaming.

That said, here are five real, practical things you can do to find the security you're looking for...

Stop Spending

This is really about the mentality of a rich person. You can win the lottery and be broke in a year's time if you don't know how to spend and save wisely. Think of it this way... Do you rent, or do you rent to own? You can make house payments for LESS than what you spend on rent at the average apartment. Do you get your lunch at a fast food joint, or do you bring a bag lunch from home? Start spending smart and don't spend too much on things you don't need. You need to get in the habit.

Cut Your Expenses

It's probably possible for you to cut your expenses in half, or better. It's really a matter of being practical. You have to be a little ruthless, of course. Trade in your prized SUV for a modest compact car. Cut up your credit cards. Pack your lunch in the morning. Take shorter showers, turn the lights off, cancel cable (how often do you watch it in the age of Hulu, anyways?), heck, change your oil more regularly so you don't have to pay for repairs later on. There are a lot of things you can do to half your expenses.

Be Realistic

You're not going to be a millionaire overnight. It's very, very possible to become a millionaire by spending and saving and investing wisely, but it's not going to happen in a week or a month. Luckily, if you put the time and effort in, if you think things through, you'll feel life getting easier on you in six month's time, but to be a millionaire takes hard work for years. Forget the mansion on the beach for now and be realistic.

Write Your Goals Down

Set your goals and work towards them no matter what. Arnold Schwarzenegger was a multi-millionaire well before he was ever a movie star. He would write his goals on index cards at the start of the year, and then work towards them, crossing them off when he attained them. He never gave up on any of them. Set your goals realistically each year. Don't write down "GET RICH!" rather, write down something like "Start an online business". Next year, you can write "expand my business" and success will follow. Don't base your goals on luck.

Snowball Your Earnings

When you make your first earnings through investments, reinvest that money. Don't cash out and go to Vegas. Take the money you made on your business or in stocks and put it right back where you got it. The more money you make, the more money your money will make you. The difference between rich and poor isn't the money, it's the fact that rich people make the money work for them.
